Margaret Rhodes has died. She was 91. She was the Queen's cousin and best friend. They were playmates as children, and remained close throughout their lives. Margaret served as bridesmaid at the Queen's (then Princess Elisabeth) wedding. She was also present at her coronation.

Margaret served as Woman of the Bed Chamber for her aunt the Queen Mother, who said she was like a third daughter.

Apparently, the Queen visited her cousin in the final weeks of her life. Sources say that she is devastated by the loss. Our condolences in her time of grief.
